The Headshot. It is the single most important marketing tool for an Actor. It is your calling card. Your first impression. Your introduction. You want a casting director to see your image and say, "Yes, we want this Actor." You have one chance to make an impression. Get it right.
This young Actor is a perfect example of a good headshot session.
Tip #1: Be YOU. It sells. He had multiple outfit with a wide variety of options. All were clean, pressed and well presented. He stayed true to himself and who he is. When he shows up after being called by a casting director, he will look exactly like his headshots have portrayed him to be.
Tip #2: It is all about the eyes. Every headshot should have crisp, clear eyes. As you have often heard, eyes are the window to the soul. Catch the light in your eyes. Talk to the camera. Each image below features his eyes. They are always in focus and he is looking straight at the camera. Its all in the eyes.
Tip 3: Keep your outfits / make up and accessories simple and understated. This is about your face. Your headshot. Not your jewelry or your make up. Keep it simple and clean. The focus is on you and your eyes.
This young male Actor in Atlanta GA was rockin' his photo session... He had every look imaginable... ranging from the dark and sultry to the sexy to the cute and innocent. Serious acting at work!
Nick just moved to Atlanta from St. Louis and has a background in music. He is interested in breaking into the acting industry in Atlanta GA and is working with Sean "Jo Blo" Johnson of Jo Blo Entertainment. Sean contacted me after I photographed the acting department at Sutton Middle School this past fall. He liked my work and reached out to have Nicks photos done. We had a great time starting with some indoor studio headshots and then moved outside to get an urban look to some of his images. Nick was an awesome sport all morning long as I kept snapping away and he kept working the camera! I loved it!! I will keep shooting until someone tells me to stop. It was great!!
We wanted to portray various looks to profile the wide range of images he can create. Not only is he handsome (VERY!), he is also a great guy and was a joy to work with. Welcome to Atlanta Nick and I hope these headshots launch you into stardom!! I look forward to watching your career grow and seeing your name in lights sometime soon!!Are you an Actor or Talent needing headshots? Call me! I can help.
